Committee

Communities of Practice

Chair: Kelsey Sillerud & Lynette Lively Cookson

Board Liaison: Richard Cohen

  • The Communities of Practice Committee fosters a space for CalAIMH members to gather together and share knowledge, deepen their connection to the work, and strengthen the provider circle. Rather than focusing on formal training, the committee encourages rich, reflective conversations, welcoming community members to engage in meaningful discussions through our “Conversations from the Field” events and beyond.
  • Community Building: A bridge for professionals from various transdisciplinary communities, providing a platform to connect and activate their local networks.
  • Empowerment through Reflective Conversation: Members are invited to facilitate reflective discussions that align with their interests and needs, emphasizing collaborative learning and diverse forms of knowledge. Everyone is invited to bring their unique perspectives, enhancing the richness of the conversations and evoking mutual delight in the work.
  • Culturally Informed Approach: A focus on decolonizing and rethinking Western approaches, addressing community-specific and cross-community challenges and conversations.
  • Professional Development: Members support each other in their professional journeys, ensuring that development is not only rooted in academic or formal training but in lived experience and shared wisdom.

How You Can Get Involved

Volunteering to join the Membership and Bylaws committee is an excellent way to make new connections in the field, gain new skills, and broaden your perspective.  We are always looking for creative ideas and positive energy to move the committee’s objectives forward.  It takes a village to raise a child.  It also takes a village to ensure CalAIMH continues to grow and thrive, starting from the Membership and Bylaws Committee.  We look forward to having you join our committee.
