  • Identify and introduce supports that facilitate diverse and equitable access to experiences of relational health, resilience, and overall well-being for all children and families in California, and for those who work in service of them by advancing equity, acknowledging diversity and improving access.
  • Engage organizations and individuals by promoting caregiver-child relational approaches in contemplation, conversation, and action that champions social justice, through holding the unique experiences of all young children prenatally to age five to affect sustainable systemic change.
  • Expand the capacity of a transdisciplinary, relationally informed community across California to reflect and act upon professional and personal experiences to disrupt the impact of bias, disparity, and racism by enhancing the overall well-being of children prenatally to age five, their families, and the systems that serve them.

  • The Communities of Practice Committee fosters a space for CalAIMH members to gather together and share knowledge, deepen their connection to the work, and strengthen the provider circle. Rather than focusing on formal training, the committee encourages rich, reflective conversations, welcoming community members to engage in meaningful discussions through our “Conversations from the Field” events and beyond.
  • Community Building: A bridge for professionals from various transdisciplinary communities, providing a platform to connect and activate their local networks.
  • Empowerment through Reflective Conversation: Members are invited to facilitate reflective discussions that align with their interests and needs, emphasizing collaborative learning and diverse forms of knowledge. Everyone is invited to bring their unique perspectives, enhancing the richness of the conversations and evoking mutual delight in the work.
  • Culturally Informed Approach: A focus on decolonizing and rethinking Western approaches, addressing community-specific and cross-community challenges and conversations.
  • Professional Development: Members support each other in their professional journeys, ensuring that development is not only rooted in academic or formal training but in lived experience and shared wisdom.

This committee meets on the third Monday of each month from 7:00-8:00 p.m. via zoom, offering members a consistent opportunity to connect, share, and inspire one another.

Additional commitments may include involvement in the planning or attendance of COP committee-organized events.

  • Collaborate with other infant mental health organizations to support our community in staying informed with the latest information from the field
  • Create marketing materials (flyers, quarterly newsletter, social media posts)
  • Create participation certificates and other administrative materials
  • Maintain and update CalAIMH website
  • Provide opportunities for members to contribute their knowledge
